Russian education faces system changes aimed at its relevance to both innovative economy requirements and society demands. The priority directions in this sphere lie in the field of bringing the structure and professional training of future specialists to the correspondence with modern requirements of the labor market and aim at increasing the availability of high-quality education. Society development history shows that life demands change the principles of teaching and educating. Therefore, pedagogues should keenly react to society’s changes and its demands to an individual. The system of professional education is undergoing an active search of forms and methods of enhancing the quality of education, which increases the role of imitative teaching methods aimed at developing individual creative abilities, forming the specialist professional and personal qualities, his/her adjustability and adaptiveness to the new economic conditions. Teaching methods as forms of interaction between the teacher and students are aimed at acquiring skills as well as at educating and developing the personality. The teacher’s task consists of the rational usage of such teaching methods which would ensure the best achievement of the target, which is the training of qualified specialists. The diversity of these methods should raise students’ interest in learning and cognitive activity. The characteristics of the competitive specialist and requirements to his/her training served the basis for the development of the generalized specialist model. The model rests on individual qualities of the specialist as well as on his/her professional knowledge, skills and expertise, which meet the requirements of general and professional components of the State Educational Standard. In a professional school, the priority should be given to active teaching methods aimed at increasing student cognitive activity, developing their initiative and personal potential, forming their creative approach and enabling them to solve important learning and organizational tasks.
